Access to Cooperator Data

Files for specific organizations will be made available on the dedicated server ftp://ftpaipl.arsusda.gov. All accounts for individual organizations have passwords so that the appropriate organization has exclusive access to organization-specific files. For AI organizations, the FTP user name is stud followed by the AI organization's four-digit NAAB code (e.g., stud0012). For breed associations, the FTP user name is breed followed by the two-letter lower case breed code (ay, bs, gu, ho, je, ww). For dairy records processing centers, the user name is drpc followed by the two-letter lower case State code. New users must contact AIPL to enable their accounts and to obtain a password.

All organization-specific files at ftp://ftpaipl.arsusda.gov are located in an /out subdirectory. A compressed file (.zip extension) will be available by 10 a.m., on the Friday prior to release date. For AI organizations, daughter information is available either in format 105 or in a format similar to the daughter portion of the BEAD list. The daughter evaluation file(s) will be compressed into a zip file named with a prefix of ‘sd’ followed by the 4 digit stud code number (e.g. stud code 1's zip file will be named sd0001.zip). The format 105 daughter file will be named "105ssss.myy", and the daughter list will be named "dlssss.myy", where ssss is the four digit stud code, and myy is a 3-digit run date (please see footnote one of above table for description of how this date is represented). The bull evaluation lists will be named with a 'st’ prefix (e.g., stud code 1's list will be contained in file st0001.299) and will be included in the same compressed file (e.g. sd0001.zip).

To access organization-specific accounts using a web browser, enter the site location (URL) as: ftp://user:password@ftpaipl.arsusda.gov, where user and password are the user ID and password for your account. For example, stud 0012 with user ID stud0012 and password pass88 would access its account as ftp://stud0012:pass88@ftpaipl.arsusda.gov. With Netscape, you can enter the site location as: ftp://user@ftpaipl.arsusda.gov (i.e., remove :password) and be prompted for the password. This method prevents the password from being displayed on the screen during the FTP session. Note that the second version of the address will NOT work with Microsoft Internet Explorer!
